Adolescent Therapy (pre-teens and teens)

Adolescents today are faced with continual challenges in school and relationships with friends and family. They're experiencing doubts about themselves and where they fit in, and can become overwhelmed with their world, and feelings they don’t understand.  This can lead to problems such as depression, anxiety, poor school performance, self injury, withdrawal, anger, acting out, sex, and drug/alcohol use.

I strive to build safe, encouraging, and non-judgmental relationships with my adolescent clients….while at the same time challenging them to recognize what they can do to help themselves feel more confident, less stressed, and more positive about the present and future.  I help them understand that negative thoughts and irrational beliefs affect their feelings and behavior....and are within their power to change.

I consult regularly with parents/guardians throughout the counseling process as we work together in helping the adolescent to reach the desired goals.

Adult Therapy

Adult men and women often encounter difficulties in their lives and relationships…this is, of course, a normal part of life.  But when the problems are negatively affecting your life on a daily basis, it can be helpful to have an experienced therapist with whom the issues can be discussed. I offer caring, non-judgmental, and confidential therapy services for adults, to help them better understand and manage the challenges they face.

Family Therapy

Family therapy often becomes a natural progression from individual therapy.  When my assessment indicates that participation of additional family member(s) is warranted, I may recommend at least several family sessions.

EMDR Trained

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is an extensively researched, effective, and efficient psychotherapy method that helps people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences. It allows the brain to naturally resolve unprocessed traumatic memories.
